Friday evening, April 12th, we will be conducting a workshop that will be helpful to everyone from first-timers who have never competed in a pageant before to more experienced contestants excited to participate in a Benefit Pageant. During our workshop we will be discussing everything you need to know for all of our required events.
We will be walking you through the "routines" that contestants will be using for each required event, where to go, when to pause, and the timing for each part of competition. Someone will demonstrate examples of each event so you can get ideas of what you would like to do. Each stage of the competition is fairly simple, there will be tape or stickers on the floor to follow, and open stage time for contestants to practice. Our plan is to try to have "Stage Managers" available both Friday and Saturday who can help contestants practice routines and give them tips.
We will also be explaining the purpose of each event and how contestants can benefit from their participation in River City Pageant and what they will be getting out of the experience. We want to make sure contestants get the most out of their experience and believe that part of that includes understanding how benefit pageantry can be a way to develop self confidence as well as learn new skills and form new friendships.
There are really only two basic walking formats for required events at the pageant and even those are very similar. Theme Wear does not have a pre-set walking pattern, but you are welcome to create your own routine, make it up as you go during competition, or use the same layout set-up as for Formal Wear.
